“Designed for everyday wear” can be misunderstood as “nothing can affect it”. No piece of fine jewellery is helped by careless treatment, and not every Caravan of Stones bracelet has the same construction.

For me, everyday jewellery means something more realistic: a piece that works with the clothes and occasions that make up most of your life, and one you choose often enough for it to become familiar. Care is not the opposite of wear. It is what allows the two to continue together.

Begin with the construction of your bracelet

Our Hero and place-led bracelets, Stackers and Slim Stackers use traditional cotton thread. Remove these pieces before bathing or showering, keep them away from water, perfume and harsh chemicals, and follow the care description for the exact design.

Mini Lisse, Row and Méridien use water-resistant technical thread. “Water-resistant” is deliberately narrower than “waterproof”: it should not be read as blanket permission to swim or shower in every piece. Follow the current materials-and-care block on the exact product page.

The natural diamonds themselves are pavé-set into metal components, which are incorporated into the hand-made threaded bracelet. They are not set directly into thread. The metalwork, settings, clasp or sliding lock and thread all form one piece, and each element benefits from being noticed rather than ignored.

A simple routine for a bracelet you wear often

• Follow the instructions for your exact piece. Do not transfer the care claims of one collection to another.
• Keep traditional cotton-threaded bracelets dry. Remove Hero and place-led bracelets, Stackers and Slim Stackers before bathing or showering.
• Read “water-resistant” precisely. For Mini Lisse, Row and Méridien, it is not a universal swimming or showering instruction; follow the care block for the exact piece.
• Look at the bracelet occasionally. If the thread, setting or fastening appears damaged or unusually loose, stop wearing it and contact us rather than waiting for the problem to worsen.
• Store it with a little space. When the bracelet is off, keep it where it will not be crushed or tangled with harder jewellery.
• Use the aftercare available. Designs made to be re-threaded can be refreshed when their thread has lived a full life.

The Caravan of Stones rethreading service is not available in exactly the same way for every construction, so contact us about the specific bracelet. Where a piece is suitable, rethreading allows its original diamond-set components to continue in the same colour or begin again in another.

Care should make jewellery more wearable, not more intimidating

I do not want fine jewellery to make a woman anxious. I want her to understand what she owns, wear it with confidence and know what to do when it needs attention.
