Before I made jewellery, I wrote about travel. What stayed with me was rarely the immaculate hotel room. It was the colour of a wall at four in the afternoon, the road through the Atlas Mountains, a market full of thread and stones, or that extraordinary moment when a dry landscape suddenly opens into green.

That is what I mean when I talk about desert diamonds.

The phrase is sometimes used in jewellery for diamonds with naturally warm champagne, honey or brown tones. At Caravan of Stones it also describes a wider design language. Our diamonds are natural, but the desert mood comes through the whole piece: sand and camel thread, flashes of claret and olive, hand-worked texture and the way pavé catches hard, shifting light.

More than beige

Desert colour is often reduced to beige, which misses nearly everything interesting about it. Think of rust-red earth, dark green palms, black shadows beneath an arch, bougainvillea against dusty stone and a sky that becomes violet as the sun goes down.

Those contrasts are much closer to the Caravan of Stones world. Warm neutrals give natural diamonds space to shine; darker thread makes the light feel sharper; gemstones introduce the unexpected colour you see in a market, garden or tiled courtyard.

I do not design by taking a paint chart and obediently matching it. I design from memory. The result should not look like a souvenir. It should carry the feeling of a place while belonging completely to the woman who wears it.

Why our bracelets have a sense of place

The names are personal. Jaipur goes back to the Pink City and the journey that eventually became Caravan of Stones. Skoura recalls the green oasis reached through the Atlas Mountains. Marrakech holds the drama of ruby, diamond, dark thread and the city’s changing light.

The places are not marketing decorations added after the bracelet is made. Travel is part of the way I see colour. It taught me that combinations which seem daring on a screen can feel completely natural in the world: coral beside sand, emerald against black, pink in strong sunlight.

Texture makes luxury feel lived in

There is a particular beauty in putting precise pavé beside thread. Natural diamonds are hand-set into sterling-silver or gold-plated sterling-silver components, then woven by hand with colour. One part is exacting and architectural; the other retains the evidence of the hand.

That tension matters. Modern luxury, to me, is not cold or anonymous. It has integrity, but it also has soul. It can be worn with a silk dress, a jacket, an old shirt or sun-washed linen. It gathers memories rather than waiting for an occasion.

A landscape you can wear

A desert-inspired bracelet does not require a desert wardrobe. Begin with one warm neutral if you want quietness, or add a deep colour if you want the diamonds to feel more graphic. Let one larger bracelet be the focus, or layer finer pieces so that the textures shift as you move.
